Series CPB 5000
In the May 2007 issue of this newsletter,
we announced the introduction of the Series 2500 Digital
Pressure Gauge, now identified as model number CPG 2500. The
March 2007 issue announced the introduction of the APC800
Automated Pressure Calibrator. In this issue, Mensor is
pleased to announce the release of a new line of primary
pressure standards, the Series CPB 5000 Deadweight Testers.
Although deadweight testers have long
been known as a fundamental standard for pressure, the CPB
5000 introduces a new concept - the patented ConTect™
System. This new system protects the "heart" of the
deadweight tester - the piston/cylinder - and allows the
user to change ranges in a matter of seconds without tools
or handling critical components.
The CPB 5000 is available in either a
hydraulic configuration with various ranges up to 15,000 psi
(1000 bar) or a pneumatic version in various ranges up to
1500 psi (100 bar). Additionally, the pneumatic version can
also be equipped with a vacuum ConTect System allowing
calibration of negative gauge/bi-directional devices. For
most ranges, a single mass set provides complete range
coverage and mass sets that provide nominal pressure
increments in either psi or bar.
All ConTect Systems are manufactured from
tungsten carbide, a material typically associated with more
expensive deadweight testers. The mass set is constructed of
Series 303 Stainless Steel. The use of these materials
provides exceptional durability and long term stability that
results in a recommended 5 year re-calibration cycle.
Both the hydraulic and pneumatic versions
are available in two accuracy classes. The standard accuracy
is 0.015% of Reading at a very economical price. For more
demanding applications, an upgrade accuracy of 0.008% of
Reading is available.
To further simplify operation and insure the highest
performance is achieved, the optional CPU 5000 Calibrator
Unit (pictured below) automatically calculates the required
mass load for any requested pressure taking into account
local conditions including gravity.

Bob
Fox
Bob joined Mensor in 1980, and all of his
positions have been centered on the "technology" of Mensor.
He has been involved in R & D, systems design, engineering,
and information technology. He has held the following key
managerial positions: R & D Manager, Engineering Manager and
Senior Technology Manager. Bob basically knows the "A to Z"
of all Mensor products. A complete knowledge of Mensor
products involves electrical design, electronic design,
pneumatics, instrumentation and software. What is unique
about Bob's background is the ability to integrate all of
these disciplines with a customer requirement or application
to design or develop a customer solution - product or
system.
He has the ability to listen to a customer and clearly
understand what Mensor can design and produce to fulfill
their requirements. As Senior Technology Manager, his
special abilities and technical skills have produced some
unique products that provide improved reliability,
productivity and speed for Mensor customers.

Mr. Alexander Wiegand Visits Mensor |
|
The week of September 17 was a very
eventful week at Mensor for several important reasons. First
of all, Mr. Wiegand came to Mensor to participate in his
first kaizen event at Mensor and he stayed for the longest
period since the acquisition in March 2006. The focus
product of the kaizen was the Series 600 Automated Pressure
Calibrator and the key objective was to reduce the
production lead time by at least 50%. Mr. Wiegand was
definitely "hands on" throughout the kaizen event and
enjoyed learning more about Mensor and its products, in
particular, the APC600. He joined the Kaizen Team and
assisted in reducing the production lead time for the
sensors in the APC600 and Model 6100 sensors. As a result of
his active involvement and input, the team succeeded in
meeting its objectives.
On Thursday morning the entire kaizen team made a
presentation to all Mensor employees, which has become a
Mensor tradition. Mr. Wiegand presented the new layout for
the APC600 Production area and discussed the TAKT time
calculations. He closed out the meeting with a short talk to
the employees about his visit and Mensor employees heard why
he likes to participate in kaizen events around the world.
Mr. Wiegand said that there were three reasons he enjoyed
the challenges and results of kaizen events. The first
reason was the fact that he enjoyed getting away from the
routine of office work. Second, he is able to learn more
about the products and the people at the different WIKA
organizations. And third he wants to impress upon WIKA
employees worldwide the benefits and importance of lean
manufacturing. He stated that only companies that are lean
will survive in the future.

Calibration Service |
|
All new Mensor pressure measuring and
controlling products are provided with a NIST traceable
calibration certificate. Additionally, Mensor has
established a reputation for world-class service and support
by providing customers with skilled technical assistance,
quality service and re-calibrations with fast turn-around
times.
Mensor has recently expanded our
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited calibration laboratory and is
now able to offer world class service, support and fast
turn-around for customers requiring calibration service of
virtually any pressure device.
Mensor provides calibration service for a
wide variety of devices such as pressure transmitters,
portable calibrators, digital pressure indicators and
automated pressure calibrators/controllers regardless of the
original manufacturer. Our pressure standards cover pressure
ranges to 10,000 psi (700 bar) and can accommodate both
pneumatic and hydraulic media. Calibration certificates can
include both as-found and as-left data and are provided with
traceability to NIST. Additionally, an optional accredited
calibration certificate can be supplied.
The Mensor Calibration Laboratory is
controlled by a Quality Management System (QMS) that has
been certified to ISO 9001:2000 and as noted above,
accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by the American Association
for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). Both certificates can
be viewed on our web site.
Customers can now rely on Mensor to meet their pressure
calibration service requirements for virtually any brand and
type of pressure device with courteous service, quality
workmanship and fast turn-around times.
