Design
Win! A-10 Warthog Tames Cheetah
Raytheon Technical Services has selected our
high-end
Cheetah platform for upgrading the MFCD
(multi-function cockpit display) on the Air
Force’s fleet of A-10 “Warthog” fighter planes.
The MFCD provides pilots with additional
situational awareness and improved control of the
A-10 targeting pod. The upgraded display uses two
Cheetah modules per assembly and provides
battlefield networking capability that enables the
pilots to identify friendly locations more
readily, reducing the potential for friendly-fire
incidents. VersaLogic’s initial release of 190
Cheetah platforms was made to Raytheon in December
2006. With purchase orders in-house for an
additional 140 units, our expectation is to supply
some 2,500 Cheetah platforms over the next 3 years
in support of the A-10 upgrade program. Raytheon
came to us for our long-term reliability and
long-term product reliability. More importantly,
our ability to offer customization elements
(locked BIOS, custom heatsink configuration, and
conformal coating) together with our legendary
service and support assured us of this important
and valuable design win.
New
Product, Python – coming soon to OEMs everywhere
In March of this year we will be releasing a
new "reptilian" EBX – the Python. This rugged
platform provides an excellent migration path for
existing VSBC-6 users and also serves as our
entry-level EBX product for new opportunities.
Powered by AMD’s LX800 CPU, the Python boasts dual
Ethernet, on-board video, a CompactFlash socket,
and an easy-to-use Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI)
port that supports up to 4 SPI devices. The SPI
modules provide a low-cost option for a wide
variety of I/O devices. For additional information
on the Python, please review the following
preliminary data sheet.
