R300 Series Temperature Sensor

- an RTD-based probe designed for high-temperature (300o C) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems.

Ask An Engineer

Q: What is a thermistor?

AThermistors are composed of metal oxides forming a resistor that varies in value with changing temperature. Thermistors can be supplied with both negative and positive temperature coefficient. They are often suited for use in low heat capacity applications and their micro size allows them to be used in extremely small assemblies.

MICRO SWITCHTM TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION

It's morning and you're on your way. You open the refrigerator and gaze inside. You can easily find your bottled water because MICRO SWITCHTM technology turns on the light when you open the door. And you have probably never thought about all the MICRO SWITCHTM components it took to fill, cap and package all those water bottles! But that's just the beginning...there are dozens of ways those little switches help make your day more productive and more comfortable.

Fact

Honeywell developed the Hall MICRO SWITCH in the 1960s, named after the phenomena known as the Hall Effect. Researchers discovered that when an integrated circuit chip was moved through a magnetic field (or vice versa), it would generate a minute electrical current.

Question

What was the one of the earliest uses for the new switch?
